Transportation and Service organizations offered expanded ability to enhance productivity with a range of new products offered by WebTech Wireless
WebTech Wireless, a leading fleet Telematics products and service provider, today announced the upcoming availability of several new products designed to deliver cost-efficient data communication and location based services to Transportation and Field Service organizations. The suite of products includes the WT6000E Locator, the WT1800 Mobile Access Point and the WT5800 Locator, all of which provide location-based services through WebTech’s multi-language fleet services platform - QuadrantTM.
The WT6000E is the latest in the WebTech’s series of GSM enabled Locators which is now expanded to provide GPS-based location and status reporting on class 10 GPRS and EDGE networks. Key features include over-the-air configuration and upgrades, multiple telemetry and serial ports as well as JBUS interfaces to report on-board engine diagnostics.
The WT1800 Mobile Access Point connects to a WebTech cellular Locator to provide a WiFi (802.11b/g) Vehicle Area Network to cellular network bridge for WiFi-enabled laptops and PDAs. The WT1800 provides a very simple and cost effective method for companies to provide their field service personnel with real-time access to their back-office applications through readily available WiFi-enabled handheld devices, without the need for cellular modem upgrades and multiple cellular data service plans. The WT1800 is a true 802.11 Access Point that is able to support multiple devices simultaneously over a secure WEP connection.
The WT5800 Locator provides a cost-effective means for companies to benefit from Quadrant’s fleet location and reporting services for organizations that don’t require real-time updates and driver communications. Location and vehicle telemetry information is stored in the WT5800 and uploaded automatically when the vehicle returns to a company’s authorized 802.11 LAN coverage areas. The WT5800 can communicate over any standard 802.11 access point that may be installed at vehicle depots, re-load points or even in the driver’s home.
“The introduction of these products ensures our location-based solutions are easily accessible to North American and International Field Service organizations,” commented Anwar Sukkarie, President and CEO of WebTech Wireless. “There is a prevalence of WiFi-enabled devices in the service industry, our solutions provide the ability to create even more business efficiencies without unnecessary hardware purchases.”

Enfora L.P. a leading provider of wireless voice and data devices announced the commercial availability of its third generation Enfora Enabler II OEM module with integrated A-GPS functionality. The Enabler IIG-A-GPS is a quad band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM/GPRS/A-GPS module optimized for machine-to-machine (M2M) and vehicle tracking systems that require real-time access to GPS or Assisted GPS (A-GPS) location information. The new module is immediately available for integration, with general production availability slated for 2Q06. The Enabler IIG-A-GPS utilizes the Global Locate IndoorGPS technology.
The Enabler IIG-A-GPS is an extension to the popular Enabler II series of OEM GSM/GPRS modules that have been integrated into a variety of handset, M2M and vehicle tracking devices.
“Enfora is excited to offer our customers highly integrated GSM/GPRS and A-GPS capabilities in a single module solution,” said Jeff Newman, Enfora Sr. Vice President of Business Development. “Because the module contains the necessary functionality to operate on all worldwide GSM/GPRS networks, and is fully certified through the GCF and PTCRB bodies, we believe it offers companies a key time-to-market advantage for new product introductions that require location-based capabilities.”
“Global Locate is pleased to be partnered with Enfora on the Enabler II OEM Modem Module. The highly integrated Marlin GPS chipset provides industry leading performance in autonomous and assisted modes of operation. The Enabler II is the first modem module to support the SUPL assisted GPS protocol as well as Global Locate’s patented LTO or extended ephemeris technology. The LTO technology can be used anywhere in the world, with or without network coverage, and dramatically reduces fix times while reducing power,” remarked Donald Fuchs EVP of Business Development for Global Locate.
The Enabler IIG-A-GPS is a Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM/GPRS/A-GPS module that is compatible with existing Enabler IIG modules. The Enabler IIG physical size of 46mm x 30mm x 3.1mm makes it one of the most compact OEM modules on the market. The Enabler IIG OEM module incorporates quad band frequency coverage, GPRS Multi-Slot Class 10 operation, AMR, SIM Toolkit, TCP/IP and Enfora’s Event Driven I/O Engine, and can be used in conjunction with the Global Locate GPS chipset in either an MS stand alone or Assisted GPS mode. The OEM module also contains all the software protocols required to communicate with Global Locate’s A-GPS server using the on board SUPL client which conforms to the OMA SUPL A-GPS standard.
