GPS Tracking Technology Leads to Cheaper Vehicles

How to buy a new car, truck or SUV for just a few $100 dollars.

A new web service is offering access to 1000s of cheap vehicles in North America that have been seized by US Government authorities. Many of these vehicles were seized using GPS tracking devices placed by the finance companies to catch ’bad debtors’.

A costly problem to finance companies are fraudsters who take out a car loan for a high value vehicle and then don’t pay any of the installments, mainly because the vehicle is going to be sold on or smuggled out of the country. To combat this, finance companies covertly fit a GPS tracking device that can be activated as soon as payments are stopped, not made and when then ’owner’ stops responding to finance companies calls.

The gps tracking device is activated and a collector is called up to go and retrieve the vehicle. These vehicles are then seized by the police, IRS, Customs or DEA. After a period of time, they are then put back on the market through approved government auctions.

A new company, Seize Cars enables searchers of these auctions to look up a specific car make and model and find the nearest government car auction taking place near their zip code. For small fee - usually $69 but reduced at the moment to $49 - many people have located a ridiculously cheap car and either sold it on or used it themselves….and then sold it on later for a fat profit.

LoJack Recovers 100,000th Stolen Vehicle in U.S.

GPS Tracking Device Fails to Convince Jury

Chicago law firm Brustin and Lundblad, Ltd. announced that a federal court jury returned a verdict of over $4.7 million dollars against Crete Carrier Corporation in a Michigan motor vehicle accident. The jury deliberated for 6 1/2 hours following a seven day trial and returned the verdict late September 19th in Federal District Court for Northern Illinois Judge Leinenweber’s courtroom.

The case was tried by Marvin A. Brustin, Milo W. Lundblad and Mark Szaflarski of Brustin & Lundblad, Ltd. Adrian Richmond, the plaintiff, was originally offered $200,000 from the defense, which relied on information obtained from a state-of-the-art Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) tracking device installed in the truck involved in the accident. Crete claimed that according to their records none their trucks were in the area at the time of the crash. Crete’s original computer data validates that claim; however the jury questioned Crete’s records and thought there was a margin of error. Crete Carrier Corporation, based in Lincoln, Neb., is part of one of the largest privately owned trucking companies in the country offering a wide range of transportation services operating throughout the United States and Mexico.

Lost and stolen electronics are a fact of life for many businesses, but UK-based and aptly named Covert Asset Tracking Systems Ltd (CATSeye) promises to help recover items with itsline of electronic tracking devices. The company makes matchbook-sized transmitters that can be tracked with GPS, GSM phone towers or even radio frequency. Company reps gave us a quick video demo at the Los Angeles CTIA Wireless convention and even claimed to find items down to one-inch accuracy.

CATSeye representatives told us the tracking devices are meant to be installed in commonly stolen electronics like laptops, GPS navigation units and desktop computers. The devices are tracked primarily through GPS, but GSM cellular tower tracking is used when there is no GPS signal.

UK star Chris Tarrant’s car tagged and tracked by wife

The News of the World in the UK is reporting that the wife of popular TV celebrity Chris Tarrant had his car fitted with a GPS tracking device whilst suspicious of her husband’s alleged infedility.

“Ingrid also instructed that an electronic tracking device should be secretly attached to Chris’s car so they would know where he was 24 hours a day. The sophisticated gizmo was yesterday still believed to be on the vehicle.” reports the News of the World.

Surveillance is not only a game of PI (private investigators) or the police. You can also have a surveillance gear (maybe not as sophisticated as wearable spy equipment or mini audio recorder measuring the size of your fingernail…) to keep tracking almost anyone you want. What I’m talking about here is GPS tracking system.GPS tracking devices allow you to track your car or any other moving object, like boat, bike or even a plane. GPS trackers are even installed in some high-tech cell phones, which allow you to track a teenager or anyone who uses such a cell phone. However, the main use of a GPS tracking equipment is for vehicle surveillance.

How many times you’ve seen, heard, or maybe even experienced yourself how burglars steal a car right in the middle of the day. Such things happen every single day. And the worst part is that rarely do the police find the hijacked vehicle. So how can you protect yourself from such unpleasant “surprise”? That’s right, by using a GPS tracking system.
