Delphi to auction mobile navigation patents
The US patent 5627547 (“Mapless GPS navigation system in vehicle entertainment system”; published in May 2007) provides a low cost and easily modifiable GPS-based navigation system integrated with an audio entertainment system, in one mobile device.
The US patent 5774828(A) (“Mapless GPS navigation system with user modifiable data base”; published in June 1998) discloses a GPS-based navigation system in which the destination information is stored in a programmable memory and is easily user-modifiable.
The US patent 5887269(A) (“Data product authorization control for GPS navigation system”; published in March 1999) provides a GPS-based navigation system in which the user is authenticated before providing data information. This security measure prevents unauthorized data copying and subsequent commercial exploitation.
The reserve price is set at $300,000 for the portfolio comprising these three patents.
