Last week traffic feed provider INRIX announced that it has grown its coverage of real-time traffic information from 55,000 miles to over 160,000 miles across North America during peak commute hours. As part of the expansion,INRIX has extended its coverage in Canada to include Montreal,Vancouver,Toronto,and Ottawa and now delivers real-time traffic-flow data to over 250 million people across 126 metropolitan North American markets.
INRIX NOW leverages real-time GPS reports from over one million commercial and consumer vehicles and devices (in taxis,service vehicles,airport shuttle services,cars and long haul trucks). These reports are blended with other sort of data such as road sensors,incident and historical sources to provide accurate real-time information.
Earlier last week INRIX also announced it has been selected by Microsoft Corp. for the voice activated local search service,Live Search 411. The free mobile service now provides real-time traffic information including travel times,accidents and congestion information in addition to local business search,directions,weather and other services.
