“The service is designed to work on all devices,in all countries,on all carriers,it’s free and it’s a pure mobile web service with no download required,”said Olivier Chouraki,founder and CEO of MobiLuck.
So far Mobiluck is not using any particular location technology (such as GPS or Cell-ID),since the application is fully web-based;participants enter themselves their location. However,MobiLuck is currently developing an iPhone application that will leverage the geolocation technologies of the handset.
Among the users India is the biggest country followed by the United States and France (the company is based out of Paris). The user’s average age is 23. MobiLuck business model is based on advertising and the start-up is currently working with 10 advertising networks. “They are currently seeing 2% click through rates on their ads,” said MobiLuck. Patrick Lord,director of marketing also said to GPS Business News that “MobiLuck intends to introduce virtual gifts as an alternate source of revenue for the company in the coming months.”
MobiLuck has a staff of five people and has raised so far about €1 million from business angels. The company expects to break even in July 2010.
